Obituary for Irgertha Wallace

Igertha Wallace began life’s journey on April 11, 1935, in Rhine’s, GA, to Jake Clemons (Minnie) and Pearl Wilcox.

Igertha received her early education in the Telfair County Education system. As a teenager, she later moved to Florida for a better opportunity, working in hospitals and private homes as a nurturer and caregiver.

In 1957, Igertha was united in marriage to Lehman Wallace (deceased) and raised their son, James Wallace, along with many nieces and nephews. Igertha had a passion for fishing and helping others in their time of need. She was an active member of Mount Herman AME, for many years. Igertha was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Wilcox; father, Jake Clemons (Minnie); her grandmother, Ida
Clemmons; brother, John Clemmons; sister, Vanel Jordan; and special niece, Nelia Mae Wallace.

She leaves to cherish memories: her son, James Wallace; granddaughter, Ericka Wallace; sister, Willie Alma Cooper; aunt, Mattie Horne; cousin, Julia Mae Nelson; and several nieces, nephews, and Igertha Wallace cousins.
