Obituary for Ramon Mercado

Ramon Mercado Rosas, age 70, died peacefully in the arms of his wife on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at their Pembroke Pines home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ramon came into this world on October 13, 1949 in Lajas, Puerto Rico. He was the first born son of Laura Georgina Rosas and Ramon Mercado Sr. Ramon was a loving son who cared for his mother and younger sister, Virgen, all his life.

After graduating high school, he moved to New York City in order to make a better life for himself and them. Throughout the years he worked in a jewelry store and for many years after that, in the oriental rug industry. A short while later he met Carmen Natal, the woman who would become the love of his life. Carmen had 2 kids, Mildred & Carlos. He raised these children as his very own. He was a wonderful father and husband. He was also a devoted grandfather to Carlos’ children.

In 2003 Ramon & Carmen left the Bronx together and relocated to Pembroke Pines. This became their paradise. Soon Ramon started working for the Broward County Schools - a job he loved and was very proud of. He happily retired in 2017 so he could spend all his time with Carmen and the family. They loved traveling together and they shared a passion for gardening and cooking.
